Running Out of Oil: A Cartoonist’s View

On a lighter side, we take a look at how cartoonists have portrayed the energy crisis over the years, reminding us there’s only one solution: you and me! From images of whales celebrating the discovery of petroleum to electric fan-powered windmills, artists have poked fun at the way Americans dealt with energy shortages for over a hundred years. Come stroll through these amusing and provocative cartoons – some of them gleaned from the pages of The New Yorker magazine – and imagine a cleaner, brighter, more energy-efficient future for all of us.
