The Whaling Museum is pleased to announce a first-ever Summer Music Series for 2011, hosted by Sagaponack singer/songwriter and music events producer Dick Johansson. Dick will perform monthly with special guests at each of the five evening concerts, beginning on Saturday, May 7, with Susan Gabriel, and followed on Saturday, June 4 by Red, Light & Blue and The Complete Unknowns. On Saturday, July 9, Caroline Doctorow will perform in concert during the museum's annual summer fundraiser, and on Saturday, August 6, Dick will be joined by the Songwriters in the Round. Capping the series and planned in conjunction with the annual Lobster Bake on Friday, September 9, will be Dick performing with special guest artist Inda Eaton.

The Summer Music Series is part of the Whaling Museum's effort to expand its public programs and special events to appeal to a larger, more diverse audience. Known for its top notch historical exhibitions, the institution is expanding its mission to encompass contemporary art and music programs which express the legacy of Sag Harbor's distinguished cultural history. We are especially pleased to receive sponsorship this first year from the Century Arts Foundation, a charitable foundation that assists arts organizations and museums to develop their public programs and audiences.
