Muriel Becker, Harold Becker, and Joseph Janezko took a rowboat out on the bay on Sunday afternoon for a row. They were caught in a storm and blown to Mishannock shore on Shelter Island, where they were forced to pass the night under their overturned boat. After a night of anxiety for their parents, Horace Becker, father of the Becker boys, went in search of them and found them cold and hungry, but very much alive.

The Elite Theatre announced that it would present vaudeville every Wednesday evening, beginning the first week of November. The performers would be the same artists who had successfully entertained audiences in Greenport for the previous eighteen months. Matinees would be offered at the theatre at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and holidays.

Thirteen boys went before Justice B. D. Corwin on Sunday night on charges of gambling. They were arrested at 5 pm during a crap game in a vacant house on a gas lot, by Acting Police Chief Kenslar. Eight of the boys pleaded guilty. Five said they were spectators. As it was their first offense, Justice Corwin suspended sentence.
