The Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum will feature the works of acclaimed contemporary impressionist painter, Dinah Maxwell Smith, known widely for her paintings of landscapes, Long Island beach scenes, horses and dogs in a new exhibit titled Time and Again. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, May 2nd from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and meet the artist.

The new exhibit features Maxwell Smith’s visions of Southampton life and is the first exhibit in a two-part series that the Museum will present in celebration of  the 375th anniversary of Southampton Town.

On display will be a series of paintings from Maxwell Smith’s latest works. Speaking about her selection, Maxwell Smith says “It's impossible to consider Southampton without its main feature: the ocean. And the beaches. I can go for months without actually going down to the ocean, but I'm always aware of its presence.”

The second part of the series celebrating Southampton Town will be a two person exhibition between local artists Michael Butler and Barbara Hadden, which opens in September.

Also confirmed for the 2015 summer series is the Museum’s 3rd annual A Whale of a Show exhibit, curated by Dan Rizzie and Peter Marcelle; Shark! The Misunderstood Fish featuring the works of Richard Ellis; and Sister Sailors, which will feature portraits by Sabina Streeter and curated by Dan Rizzie. Rizzie has designed the Museum’s 2015 limited edition whale t-shirt and hat. The items will be sold to raise money for their ongoing capital campaign to restore the building.
