North Haven Bridge

North Haven Bridge was showing signs of wear and was so weakened in parts that heavy trucks were being permitted to pass only at great caution on the part of drivers. Since the bridge was a county charge, the repair was expected to fall upon the county instead of the town of Southampton.

Sag Harbor’s baseball club defeated the Montauk A. C. on Sunday on the Park grounds by 19 to 4 in seven innings. Southold was scheduled to be the Harbor’s upcoming opponents on the park grounds on Saturday.

An advertised auction sale at Hampton Heights was expected to be of particular interest to Sag Harbor people, for aside from the sale of Montauk property the proprietors were offering amusements galore with the Sag Harbor Brass Band and several local boxers. The Sag Harbor Brass Band was scheduled to provide plenty of music on Saturday, playing throughout Long Island in the morning and returning to the auction sale in the afternoon to play a tune between sales. The boxing exhibition was to include Bill Gilbride, Jerry Casper, Charlie Homer of East Hampton, and Joe Wilson of Harlem.
